Luke 3-4~ Day 24~ Demons!😳😈

I am always left pondering demonic warfare when I read this section of scripture, "Also, demons were coming out of many, shouting and saying, "You are the Son of God!" (Luke 4:31)

Why is it that in our current culture no one, including Christians, would ever believe that a person is demon possessed?  People were back then... why not now?  We have been taught to believe a person's issues are always psychologically rooted.  Therefore give them medicine or psychotherapy.  I would venture to guess that it would be even a Christian's first thought to seek psychiatric help for someone with behavior that caused them to want to be naked (Luke 8:27), cut themselves (Mark 5:5) or attempt suicide (Mark 9:22).
I often wonder, what would be my role when confronted with a person with mental disorders?  Do I refer that person to a psychiatrist or do I pray in the name of Jesus to expel the demon (like they do in Mark 9:29, 9:38 & Luke 10:17)?

Remember, I am a nurse who believes God gave man wisdom to treat, medically, all kinds of infirmities.  Yet, I am also a Christian who reads the Bible.  So, when I read something like "Some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities.." (Luke 8:2), I must acknowledge both conditions exist in our world and both can be healed by the power of Jesus.

It's interesting that we just got finished reading Mark where it says, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.  And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons..." (16:16)
Humm... I haven't cast out any demons fact,  I am being totally honest here.....I wonder if it would dawn on me to try.

My first thought if I came across someone cutting or one who has a history of trying to kill themselves, would first be,  go the medical route. My next thoughts would be,  if I started to pray in the name of Jesus to expel a demon,
1.  People would look at me as a religious wacko.
2. My faith would falter, not believing that a demon would really come out.
I am a product of our culture! 😫
I realize, I need to pray after reading these verses and pondering it all!  I need help!!

Lord, please increase my faith!  Don't let me be a product of my culture!  I am just a visitor here, let me have a heavenly mind.  Remind me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil. 4:13) and please teach me not to be concerned of what others think of me.  Who cares if I'm a religious wacko!  Especially if the result of praying in your name could lead to another being freed from a demon!!

Yes and Amen... I believe there are so many unclean spirits out there, really everywhere, such as the spirit of fear, the spirit of separation, spirit of overwhelm... and then the other part of me realizes that sometimes, simply because we're human, we unknowingly allow ourselves to believe a lie of the enemy who masquerades as truth... And bam, it's easy to fall into fear or overwhelm... I believe the enemy's first line is to deceive, and he will use any way he can. so that we can actually be staring right at what we think is the truth and it's total deception. I personally believe everything is spiritual, it's either the Holy Spirit and the kingdom of God or the other one! and I love the area of scripture that says "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 16:18-19)...
I have actually taught this to my little guy. Even if somebody donates a toy to us, we always clean it spiritually. He has a very sensitive spirit and we've had many instances where he will wake up with bad dreams if there's something attached to it that hasn't been prayed off. Isn't that interesting? I hope he always remains so spiritually sensitive and learns to discern unclean soirits for himself.
We definiet live in a battle field!
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph 6:12)

If we are told that, why do the majority of Christians keep forgetting that? It's great that you are teaching your child already, to have a discerning spirit! It's always good to "know who your enemies is"!
