Faithful in Prayer

Since I got in the habit of reading every day, remembering to pray for people has become way easier!

I actually feel free to say to someone, "I will pray for you".  I used to hesitate telling people that because I didn't just want to say it and then forget to do it. (Remember, I'm in my 50's, I forget all sorts of stuff these days!)

As I was cleaning out a drawer, one day, I got an idea...

I had an old pad of paper that was formatted to be used as a shopping list.  I probably bought it when I was trying to be an organized mother of four little kids needing meals every night.  (Cooking regularly was something that ebbed and flowed as much as my spiritual fervor!) Needless to say, my kids are grown and I still have almost the full pad.....😆 That goes to show you how I did with regular cooking! Haha

Anyway, I was looking at the days of the week and thought of how many times I heard pastors or Bible study leaders say that we should pray for our country, leaders in office, pastors, not to mention missionaries, your kids, friends, and every sick person you know!  Aaahhhhh! That's so much!  I would be praying all day!! (Funny..doesn't the Bible say something about that?... Oh, yeah,..."Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thess. 5:17)........but how am I to remember all that?!.....

Then, the brilliant moment struck!  Why don't I use this shopping list as my prayer list?!

I fill the shopping list side with all the special requests people give me.
Now, some people may be concerned that it looks like I am going to God with my "shopping list" demanding that he perform for me and fill all items requested.  Well......I have been a Christian long enough to know and see God's pattern....I don't always get what I want (thank goodness!).  However, I take great comfort in knowing that I can go to him with a shopping list!
Remember: Ephesians 6:18 "And Pray on the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints."

But I also remember what my mom taught me- The Lord's Prayer! We quoted that prayer every day as I grew up. I clearly remember, as a little girl, my mom telling me,  "Always pray in the name of Jesus, that his will be done".
Matthew 6: 10 "...your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Naturally, some people on the shopping list side stay on for a long time!! When it doesn't seem to be God's will for healing, I keep praying anyway knowing that the Holy Spirit will utter the right words to God for me regarding the matter.
Romans 8: 26, "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will."

If you want me to put you on my prayer list, let me know.  I'll pray for you!  I can honestly say that because I have figured out a way to remind myself!! 😏

Good Morning Anita and fellow readers!
June 7, 2021 1Sam. 11-12
I'm excited to be on-track. Isn't 1 Samuel exciting!!?? I am finding so many lessons and messages to me personally as I read about those two great leaders; how they loved God but still failed Him. Then to see how God restored them each time. I was especially convicted when I read about Samuel on pg. 413 (Life Application Bible) and the 3 steps needed to truly listen and follow God's directions. Not to mention the advice to remember all that God has already done and is doing in my life every single day!
And let's all pray for each other every morning.
Thank you, Anita for bringing us together. Love to all, Melanie Loucks
