Revelation 21-22~ Last day of the 120 Day reading plan!!!

Reading the last two chapters definitely leaves a Christian excited, don't you think?!! The new heaven and the new earth with all God's people there, "arrayed with God's glory" (21:11), sounds fantastic!!

Yet, I can't help notice the contrast and reminders that John keeps throwing in to describe what the future holds for people who are not Christians.  "Their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." (20:15 & 21:8b)

If a Christian (me) truly believes in the glorious new earth to come for those who believe in Jesus, wouldn't that Christian, in obedience to the command to love one another, do every thing in their power to share Christ with all he/she came in contact with?

Why do we (I), in our (my) comfortable USA culture, not feel the urgency that Paul, John, Peter and all the other outspoken Christians throughout history held?  After all, we just got finished reading, "Look I am coming soon, and my reward is with me to repay each person according to his work." (22:12)  The fact is, that days is coming sooner now, than when John wrote these things!  We don't have much more time to get out there and share the good news!!

I have been encouraged and challenged reading this book.  I'm going to make it my goal to act a little more urgently than I have been doing!  Maybe that will be your goal too!!

Congratulations on finishing the New Testament in 4 months!!!  I hope you keep up the good habit!!

As for me, I am thinking of taking a class this semester that may occupy more time than I have to keep up both the blog and the class.  So, I am going to put the daily blog on a hiatus of sorts.

I am unwilling to get out of my reading habit that I have enjoyed these past three years, so I will be reading the New Testament, one chapter at a time, which will take the whole school year.  I'll be done in June.  Maybe you would want to join me for that?  If there is interest, I would only post once a week, just to keep in touch with you, comment on something that stood out to me in the week and see what stood out to you.

I love to mix things up!!! It keeps life fun!

Again, good job on the reading!!  Don't break your good habit!!!
