1 Timothy 1-3~ Day 90~🀭🀫

OK....I’m going to go there! I would rather skip right over it, but...it stood out to me....so, I’m going to comment on, “I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to remain quite.” (2:12)

Well?....What do you think of that?! I can’t help but think about my parents church, the church I grew up in.  They have an ordained woman pastor who works as an assistant pastor, yet she preaches many Sundays.
What’s up with that?  Do denominations &/or people pick and choose verses they want to follow and throw others out? Do they justify not following verses by saying society has changed, therefore it’s not applicable now?
😯 Umm...ya better be careful with that!! That is a slippery slope!
I liked what my commentary said about the “boundaries for women in church service”. The commentary points out that Paul, an expert in the Old Testament, used the summary statements he made in 1Tim 2:13 and 2:14 to explain that a reversal of roles occurred in Genesis 2 &3. So to quote my commentary, it concludes that, “just as it caused such problems in the beginning of history, so such a reversal of roles and the resulting problems should be avoided in the Ephesians church.

I am reminded of the curse that God put on Eve after sin entered the scene. “And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.” (Genesis 3:16- NLT)  God created women to be help mates, but now sin causes women to want to take over! Well, the commentary is right, that is role reversal!!
Paul is also right, problems are bound to arise when things aren’t done in the order in which God originally established. That goes for Adam and Eve, the church in Ephesus, and the church today. God’s word is divinely inspired and timeless. No picking and choosing allowed!  It’s all or nothing.

On a side note,  I’m thinking of taking some theology classes. If it leads to a degree in the subject, I may be qualified to teach some classes....
Well, after today’s reading, I know who my audience will be!! πŸ‘©πŸΌπŸ‘±πŸ»‍♀️πŸ‘©πŸ»‍πŸ¦³πŸ‘©πŸ»‍πŸ¦±πŸ§“πŸ»πŸ§‘πŸ»

BIG debate in churches now. Yet another division when we should be united in Christ and it makes me sad.
Yes it's sad!
The plum line to use in every church decison needs to be the use of God's words. Stick to what it says.
Yet, the only way people can stick to what it says is,... to know what it says!
I have read the New Testament 12 times in a row over the past 3 years and I STILL read things and think, "Wow, I didn't catch that last time" or "Oh, yeah, I forgot it says that." I have noticed that the more I read the New Testament, the more my thinking aligns with what it says. That can't happen if Im not reading the Bible all the time!
I no longer go off of what I "feel" is right, I go off of what the Bible actually say is right. Case in point, today's reading. I feel that women have just as good, if not better teaching skills than some men. Yet, I need to stick to what God's inspired word says. Like a child trusting that the parent has a good reason for their command, even if the child doesn't understand why. The parent has the understanding and knows what is best for the child. We just need to trust in that!
