1 Thessalonians 1-3~ Day 87~ Am I imitate-able?

Here’s a timeless truth that I got out of our reading today: If one shares the gospel with another and the other accepts it, the one who shared the gospel must live a life that is worthy of being imitated!!
This reminds me of how I would often say to my kids, as they went off to high school, “Remember you may be the only Bible someone reads”

I think Paul had the same idea in mind when he told others to imitate him. Notice how often Paul says, in so many words, “imitate me or other Christians”?!!

1.) Today’s reading says, “For you brothers and sisters, became imitators of God’s churches in Christ Jesus that are in Judea.” (2:14)
2.) Back in 1 Corinthians, he says, “ For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Therefore I urge you to imitate me.” (4:16)
3.)  “Imitate me, as I also imitate Christ.” (1Cor. 11:1)
4.) “Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children, and walk in love...But sexual immorality and any impurity or greed should not even be heard among you, as is proper for saints.” (5:1-3)
Also, we will be reading,
5.) “For you yourselves know how you should imitate us...” (2 Thess 3:7 &9)
6.) “Now we desire each of you to demonstrate the same diligence for the full assurance of your hope until the end, so that you won’t become lazy but will be imitators of those who inherit the promises through faith and perseverance.” (Heb. 6:12)

I like what one commentary said on the subject, “Authentic Christians do not present the gospel with words alone but also by imitating Christ in their lives.”
Today’s reading was a good reminder for me to do a self check....am I living a life worthy of being imitated?

So true! And I pray I always give glory to God for everything, not myself, that's a bad example. I love 2:11-12 when Paul says he dealt with each one as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging them to live lives worth of God. What a great example!
I have a friend that, whenever someone complemented her, would point up ☝🏻like she was giving God the credit. I liked that. It reminded me to do the same.
I agree with you, it can be easy to slip from doing things for God, to doing things to get accolades from others.
I gotta keep remembering to ☝🏻
