John 13-14~ Day 14~The Holy Spirit= Peace

I take so much comfort in these words, "Peace I leave with you.  My peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Don't let your heart be troubled or fearful." (14:27)
Ahhh, Jesus gives us his peace....😌....but do I honestly feel it....all the time?  How does Jesus give us that peace?  Well, he tells us how....
"I am going away and I am coming to you." (14:28)
I giggle when I read that sentence because it reminds me of my mother's famous words when she would come to babysit my kids, "Leave now, so that you can come back."

Jesus may have had his 2nd coming in mind when he said, "I am coming to you", but I think he was referring to the Holy Spirit aspect of our 3 in one God.  After all, he just got finished saying, "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you." (vs. 26)

So, how do I have peace in this world (that can be so sad and stressful?). The Holy Spirit reminds me of everything I know of Jesus!  So, I have to know some critical things!  These are just a few:

  • My father loves me (14:21 &23).
  • God will not leave me (14:18).
  • God gives good gifts (Mt. 7:11).
  • God will give me words to speak (Luke 12:12).
  • God will give me strength and power in my weaknesses (Isaiah 40:29)

These are the words the Holy Spirit whispers in my ear when I am going through a hard time.  God never said I wouldn't go through hard times, but with the Holy Spirit reminding me of the truths listed above, I can have peace.  That's what Jesus leaves us with here on earth, his peace through the Holy Spirit!!

Great reminder, esp when I start to make up scenarios in my mind about what could happen! Silly me!

What comforting chapters in today’s reading! In chapter 14 I love how Jesus continually says how He will and is always with us and in verse 18 “I will not leave you as orphans”. A great reminder today and forever to seek Him daily and know He never leaves us astray
AND, if we are not listening to those reminders, as the Holy Spirit whispers them into our ears, it's always good to have like minded friends near by that will remind you of His words as well!!😄
