Chapter 11 is really quite remarkable in how it explains what is meant in 8:29 that God “foreknew” his plan for salvation for all races, from the beginning!
He started with the chosen people (Jews), God used their hardened hearts to open salvation to the Gentiles, AKA, all other races (11:11) and then out of jealousy for God’s mercy (vs 32), some Jews will come back to be “grafted” into the family again. (11:24). All the while, this foreknown and predestined plan was for those who stand fast through faith (11:20). Salvation is for them (Romans 4:12). 🙌🏻 woo, woo!🙌🏻
On a different note, the ESV version of 12:10-13 is worded a little different than the NIV version I have as the theme verse of this blog.
I have been dealing with a lot of fate lately, so reading, “do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in Spirit, serve the Lord.” (12:11) almost made me laugh out loud because I have been feeling like one!
“do not be slothful…” OK, Lord, help me with that!!!
