Day 81~ John 18

Finishing today’s reading, I can’t help thinking about how pathetic Pilate was.  Here was the man that should be the one to determine the guilt or innocence of a man (basically find out the truth of a situation), and all he can say is, “What is truth?” (vs 38).

Can you imagine when the day comes, when, “Every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.” (Rom. 14:11, Phil 2:10 & Isaiah 45:23)?  Pilate is going to drop to his knees, shaking like a leaf, thinking, “I had truth right in front of me and I walked away from him!”

What a dramatic picture!  But, in essence, every person who rejects Jesus will have that moment of realization that truth was in front of them. (Rom 1:20).  Whatever excuse they give as to why they rejected Jesus (Truth) will sound just as pathetic as Pilate’s.  😖

Pathetic Pilate- new nickname! He does sound like even today when people don't even know to ask what is truth, they just default to "My" truth, speak my truth, etc. As we all once were, unknowing and blind.

True to that!
I am glad Jesus made it VERY clear on the point that he is truth. No one has an excuse. "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)
Thankfully, he is actively drawing people to him.
I love John 12:32, ""And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."
The loving act he did on the cross draws people to the truth. I love that!
