Day 80~ John 17

What a prayer!  I love thinking about the fact that Jesus prayed for me!! (vs. 20)

Especially this, “I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.” (17:15)
If Jesus is praying, I’m confident that this prayer will be answered, right?!  So, if he prayed that God would keep the evil one from me, that will be done!!!

And if that’s the case, why would I ever have any fear?

Not only can I be without fear of Satan, but I can have peace (vs. 33), even though tribulation is all around me.  Ahhh…..

The early disciples understood these truths and made sure they told others.
  • Paul reminded the Thessalonians that Satan can’t touch them, “But the Lord is faithful and he will strengthen you and protect you from he evil one.” (2 Thess. 3:3). He also reminded the Philippines of the peace they can have, ”Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
  • John also reminded his readers that Satan can’t touch them! “We know that anyone born of God does not go on sinning, rather the Son of God keeps him safe and the evil one cannot touch him.” (1 John 5:8)

I need poster to remind me that I have nothing to fear!

Maybe the one below will do.  The first part I need to tell myself, the second part I need to tell Satan! 😜

Hahaha- where did you find that? You are funny! I do struggle with fear, not specifically that Satan will harm me, but that he will harm my loved ones, esp my kids, not all of whom are believers. So, the fear is real in that sense, but I still need to trust God that He will work His work in them, against Satan, because God does not want any to perish.
That type of fear, or concern, is good in that it keeps you motivated to keep pray for them. Because you love your family members, they are the ones foremost on your mind always, thus you keep praying. Lucky them that they have you in their life! Someone is praying for them!
Thankfully, there are a lot of verses that talk of the power of prayer! I love James 5:11, "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."

that picture is too funny!!!!
but yes I love this chapter reminding me to NOT be FEARFUL. If I cave into fear I am just letting Satan get in the way and as a follower of Christ and have HIS spirit with me I shall not fear, theres no need! What joy and comfort that is!!! A little and probably waaayy too over dramatic story on Saturday night when I was home alone with Mitchell being gone I got into bed knowing the house was locked up I started to overthink every very little sound I heard from the house and so in absolute FEAR that someone was in the house or someone is going to break in... (so silly right?) WELL with hearing the little sounds then heard the dog make a weird grow noise I jumped into fear mode of "ok wheres my pepper spray and my car keys I can get out of here with the dog so fast and I can make it out alive, oh my oh my oh my oh my" as I was fearing that I needed to run and grab my pepper spray I just prayed wrapped by blanket tightly around me and out loud I prayed for Jesus to take the fear away and to have Him protect me and I got this huge wave of comfort and slept like a baby! Silly story but it was the coolest moment of complete comfort that I was just praising the Lord because he hears our cries!
Thank you for sharing! That is a great example of how we can let our fears run wild! How great that you turned to Jesus in that time of fear and felt comfort! That is a victory over Satan!!! He can’t touch this!! 🙌🏻 🙌🏻 🙌🏻
