That trinity thing I commented on yesterday….. I noticed again something that Jesus said in today’s reading that confirms the Father/Son part of the trinity.
If someone asked me, I would have said God raised Jesus from the grave. I would base that on scripture that I have read before. Here are some that speak to that.
Acts 2:24- “God raised him up…”
Rom. 6:4- “..just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father…”
1 Cor. 6:14- “And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.”
Gal. 1:1- “…through Jesus Christ and God the Farther who raised him from the dead…”
Eph.1:20- “…according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead….”
However, look what Jesus said in today's reading, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.” (John 2:19)
Isn’t that interesting?! Here, again, we see that the two are one. When we worship Christ, we worship God.
John really wants to drive that point home because he quotes Jesus again in 10:17, “For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again.”
We will see later in Romans 8:11 how the Spirit is involved in the raising up of Jesus as well. But we can talk about that later…..😉
