Day 77~ Heb 4-6 Diligent to the end
"We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized.” (6:11)
This verse has a sad note in it for me. I can’t help but think back to a girl I met when I was 19. She was about 25. She was a beautiful piano player who led worship for the college group at the church I went to at the time. She always seemed so engrossed in the worship. Which to me, displayed that she had “the hope” of eternal life with Jesus. She appeared to be in love with Jesus and sang passionately.
Well, life led me to a different church and I lost touch with her. About three years later, I bumped into her at a gas station as we were both filling our cars. I asked her how she was doing and if she was still at that church. Her response utterly floored me! “No, I don’t go to church. I’m not into that anymore.”
😯What?!?! Not “into that”???
Sadly, she didn’t “show the same diligence to the very end”…what she had hoped for will never “be fully realized”. 😩
Unfortunately, when I get stunned, it’s as if my brain goes numb. I can’t come up with an articulate response if my life depended on it! I still cringe thinking it may have been her life that depended on it. 😢
I don’t remember exactly how I responded, but it was probably something like, “Oh…”
Then she drove away….
I haven’t seen her since but I still pray that the Lord drew her back.
It’s that story and the verse above that makes me want to encourage all my friends to read with me. It’s why I do this blog. I want to encourage fellow believers just as the writer of Hebrews is doing.
Stay committed, stay firm in your faith, “show the same diligence to the very end”!!!
What you hope for will be realized!
