I found 17:15 remarkable. Ten men had leprosy. Jesus cleansed them all, but only one “came back, praising God in a loud voice”. 1 out of 10!!! Those are not good odds!
I am reminded of Matt. 5:45, “He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and unrighteous.” God gives gifts to all mankind, but it is only those who thank him and praise him with ‘repent/belief’ that he says back, “Your faith has made you well” (vs 19). My footnote says, the phrase may also be rendered “your faith has saved you”, indicating that this one received salvation in addition to the physical healing all ten had received.
The gift is offered to all (just like the sun and rain come to all) but it’s up to the individual on how they respond. I hope 1 in 10 isn’t representative of the number who respond with true faith!
…..And then we read a sad question Jesus asked in Luke 18:8, “however, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” 😟
